The MP/8 I-modem and MP/16 I-modem offer high bandwidth
to a customer's current dial-up network for both ISDN and
analog users. In place of multiple standalone modems, users
get the benefit of x2™ Technology for speeds up to 56 Kbps,
ISDN support and award-winning V.34 modem technology in one
device. The MP I-modem front-ends terminal servers/routers,
asynchronous hosts or racked PCs so remote users can dial
the same numer for high- speed analog or ISDN access. With
8 or 16 dial-in/dial-out ports, these low-cost solutions are
ideal for branch offices and smaller businesses that require
higher bandwidth capability. For Internet service providers
(ISPs) the aynchronous nature of x2 Technology in the MP I-modem
allows them to expand performance to analog remote users to
nearly double the exisiting V.34 standard - 56 Kbps. The MP
8/16 I-modem products quickly enable both ISDN and x2 to existing
applications without any hardware changes. For dial-out applications,
V.Everything® modem technology ensures the highest analog
connection rates possible on all ports. The MP I-modem front-ends
other devices via RS-232 asynchronous or synchronous connections.
Products are 56 Kbps-capable. However, due to FCC regulations
which restrict power output, download speeds are limited to
53 Kbps.
